My days are PACKED. I begin my workday at 3:30 a.m. four days out of the week and end up home between 4 and 5 p.m. and in bed by 9 p.m. However, there is so much life to live for. I work inside of hot and humid 53-foot aluminum trailers where I am “shunned” from the world for the 10-11 hours of my day. This sacrificial blinding of society attracts me to learn and grow from these outside lessons. So, throughout the day, I yearn to become informed of the ongoings of people and their interactions happening just outside the tall concrete walls.
Preferred Digital Media

As a result, there are two main social media sites that I am keen to- Facebook and Twitter. Facebook is used to obtain local knowledge of my closest friends and family; this happens to also drive a slew of interesting news from around the world. Twitter has purposed me for political education (taken with a grain of salt) through comedic relief. There is too much negativity flying like clouds over our heads. So, a little sunshine to part the clouds should be undeniable. This is what I benefit when scrolling with my exercised thumb.
What Do I Offer?
Now, what I offer to these digital media applications is lackluster at the moment. Though, I do post and share semi-infrequently. This consists of either original content on an event or memory; or someone else’s content, i.e., a TikTok video or a serious news story. Facebook has been my go-to since I was 11 years old portraying an 18-year-old online. Since that time, I have been selective about what I post and who I befriend. So, it does not surprise I haven’t been textually active in the present.
I love to write. Poetry or essays like this bring me joy. So, occasionally I will share a new poem on Facebook that has brought significant value to that moment in my life. As a matter of fact, I’ve posted a poem as my biography about my current motivation in my timeline.
Coral on land
Fish in the sand
Raisins where my eyes were
Raining north of the fence
I cross over.
Luke Roberts
This poem discusses the characters consideration and decision to make the necessary changes to live prosperously. This ties into my current situation in that I must choose wisely the path I walk to achieve my dreams.

Furthermore, in reviewing The Social Media Channels: An Overview chapter from HubSpot Academy, I have learned that Facebook has become grandfathered and established to a greater population than that of the largest country. Therefore, my continuing venture among this channel is promising. I have also set a group page for my old high school friends to reminisce. As Mari Smith suggests, I should “…start with a clear purpose. Don’t just start a group just because someone said you should start a group.”
I’m a Lover Not a Fighter ❤
Dangerous digital discussions arise when present in this realm. Because of this, I stand back and choose to have mature conversations in person, as needed. I feel that due to the importance of certain issues, one should not hide behind a filtered lit screen where bits of information can be misconstrued. This is the main reason why I do not post my political opinions often if not at all. I cannot bear the idiocy in our society. So, I choose not to welcome that attitude. Not on Facebook, nor Twitter.
Experience in Emails
I have recently subscribed to Marketing Brew, a daily email reflecting on recent marketing news and anything else business/economic related. Lately, I have been so busy that I have not been current since June. Although, since this email finds its usefulness in conversation and learning about the world around me, I am comfortable in allowing this company to sit in my inbox until I briefly scroll-skim through the provided stories. However, beyond the latest ignorance of this email, I agree that receiving these emails is a really good way to learn about the marketing realm as I intend to arise in that very environment.
I also receive emails from Credit Karma, wherein I obtain financial tips of all sorts like credit repair, saving, spending, and credit card inquiry. I welcome their letters and promotions as I become aware of my credit standing and how to effectively shift my financial future.
Digital Perception
Among the variety of Digital Media, I take notice to one particular thing-hashtags. Why are there so many? When selecting which tag I want to use, there are a list of like phrases/words with different variations and a slight askew in translation to select from. Facebook does not take to hashtags in no way like Twitter. Instead of allowing the user to go backwards in their tweet and setting “#” before the phrase to create tags already written within the message, Twitter requires for the user to always type “#” as they are creating the message. This does not make it an easy feat for after the creation of the tweet. What I notice too is that if I want to add a “#” to a word, other suggested terms similar to this one would pop up. I brought this to your attention because Twitter has made efficiency in creating our messages more difficult than it needs to be. I have also noticed that Facebook is very keen to the user sharing emotions. So, the user can note a few tags as well as the emotion that they are wanting to convey about that message.
Til Next Time,
Luke Roberts
